Cover artwork and feature layouts for Shephard Media’s four defence sector magazines
For three years between 2020 and 2022 I designed the cover artwork and feature layouts for Shephard Media’s four defence sector magazines (Air Warfare, Land Warfare, Military Training, Naval Warfare). Initially working in support of their in-house designer before taking sole ownership and responsibility of the magazine design.
Working as part of the editorial team we published each magazine on time within the strict and time sensitive deadlines. Turning the feature articles synopsis into eye catching, exciting and representative cover artwork.
All four magazines where published digitally each month and distributed at the worlds leading military events. Understandably every magazine had to fit a number of specific requirements, such as unique print set up, alternative horizontal and landscape layouts and high image viability.
Updated and expanded on existing brand including logo variations, iconic imagery, logo animation and digital usage guidance
Since 2023 I have been assisting CMIP with their design needs. Initially I updated their brand with logo variations, new iconic imagery, an additional icon deck, a range of presentation templates, a digital guide and animation logos. Since the initial work I have been on hand to support and additional support or required changes.
Working closely with the CMIP team we have ensured both the brand requirements are met while not compromising on user experience, often requiring utilising more user friendly software, such as PowerPoint when designing branded content.
Volunteer designer for the RSPB’s Local Group programme creating various documentation inline with the RSPB’s recent brand update
I started volunteering for the RSPB the summer of 2021, I am passionate about nature and wanted to help by utilising my design skills. I was also excited to experience working with an large, well known and established brand.
In my role I worked with the Volunteer Engagement Manager to update the existing Local Group documentation, layout and design additional documentation and create new document templates ensuring all aligned with the RSPB’s expansive new brand guidelines. All of my work was check by and approved by the RSPB’s in house design team.
The main challenge of my design work was working within the limitations the RSPB required. I could exclusively only use the Microsoft Office package, openly available fonts and images sourced via the RSPB’s image gallery.
Collaborated with up and coming artist Miles Pascal to create the music video for his latest song ‘One More Chance’
I was given a blank slate from Miles to make the music video to his song however I wanted, I came up with the initial concept, created all the artwork and animated the entire three minute 16 second music video.
The project was a collaborative process both of us keen to express our creativity, focused on creating a piece of art we were really proud of.
Designed a modern logo and accompanying brand for a dive school based in Malta
As part of a graphic design course at Nottingham Trent university we were tasked with creating a logo and brand for a fictional company. I however decided to rejuvenate the brand of a scuba diving school in Malta.
Using the updated logo and brand I mocked up a series of branded collateral including t-shirts, water bottles, business cards and stickers.
“What you created is absolutely fantastic, I like it a lot, you did something only a very experienced graphic designer could do”
- Max Valli Diving Centre Director
Once again working with Shephard media creating iconic short animations for their creative studio
Working with the creative studio branch of Shephard Media I was tasked with initially creating iconic imagery for one of their clients. However the project expanded to include short build up animations.
Two versions of the iconic image and animation were created for difference purposes each with its own unique tone.
Designed and coded a custom website for Anarchy 54 a new card game brand
I was approached by Anarchy 54 to create a bespoke artistic website for new customers to learn more about the brand. I built the website from scratch using HTML, CSS and Java. The website included unique layouts, embedded animations and minimalistic design.
In addition I created a series of how to guides and videos to enable the team at Anarchy to update and add simple elements to the website via HTML to save on outsourcing costs.
